Venting by the sea

Here I am at Camp Franzini in San Rafael. It is beautiful Bay Area fall weather, lot's of sun and crisp sea air. Perfect for cleansing the mind, body and soul while doing work on the vessel.

I had the chance to meet up with a friend and check out The Shotgun Wedding Quintet last weekend in San Fran. I've seen them a couple of times up in Tahoe where they play the local Jazz bar in Truckee(Moody's). It was great to see them on their home turf. They brought in some HipHoppers from San Jose to start the night off. Great to hear some youngsters rappin and scratchin' wax. Shotgun had their usual off beat Jazz fusion freestylin' but they twisted a didjeridoo in on one song and had plenty of fresh lyrics rolling through the house. They definitely weren't playing the typical repertoire they bring to Tahoe. It was awesome to see a different side of their musical experimentation. We split early so I didn't get to see their second set. I headed across town to see Steve Lawler who was spinning records at Ruby Skye. Small crowds=lot's of wiggle room! Great beats and awesome venue.

A few more meetings here in the Bay and then back 2 Tahoe to pack for EHX and then onto Vegoose and SEMA in Vegas.

In the Tahoe bubble!

Ready for round 2

I'm back in the office getting ready for the winter. Which for me these days translates to heading to warmer climates. Which is really quite tough for a snow worshipper and skier/snowboarder! It is really quite odd to consider myself a snowbird this early in life. However, when you have an oportunity to travel in style with a 1972 Airstream Safari that has been customized into a High Definition lounge, you can change your tune quickly. I am the Airstream Pilot for MusicGiants here in Incline Village, Nevada. Which means I drive the rig and get to cruise in style. Sure in a lot of regards it's just a job, but it has it's perks.

Case in point----->She's a fine vessel for cruising the american roadways, and at night it's a sweet lounge complete with 45" flat panel, 5.1 surround sound, mohair couch and plenty of music and movies to keep one entertained!

Last winter I set out for the maiden voyage across the southern states during winter and into the NE in the spring. It was alot of work getting the kinks worked out and trying to find the magic. There was alot of work to be done on the trailer(as ther continues to be). There also was alot of research into the nature of how we might best use the silver bubble in our business strategy. Lot's of valuable feedback from AV retailers and installers told us that it is a great tool for demonstrating the power of High Def music. The trailer is mainly used as our tradeshow booth (as any of you CEDIA types have probably already seen), but we are trying to integrate events into the schedule along the way. We tried lot's of different events on last years tour and took notes. Now I am preparing for round 2. Not sure how much consistent travel is ahead, it looks like mostly the West coast with a quick trip out to EHX in Florida. I hope to get a tour date page up on the MusicGiants site and potentially have a listing of aditional events that we will be attending.

The trailer is buffed out and there is diesel in the tank, now I just need to get out of the Tahoe basin before the snow hits too hard! Just this morning I saw a truck with about 3 inches of snow on it's roof! It's dumping in South Lake Tahoe right now, Is it already that time?! Yikes, I had better get back to packing the rig and scoot!
